Isopropyl Alcohol is a structural isomer of 1-propanol and ethyl methyl ether. It is a 70% solution of Isopropyl Alcohol in water termed as renewable secondary alcohol. The presence of water recedes evaporation of the solution, making it more effective against microbial pathogens as compared to the high purity (>90%) Isopropyl Alcohols. It is a colorless liquid at room temperature with an odor of consumable alcohol. It is the simplest form of secondary alcohol and is certified as lab-grade due to the presence of unknown impurities. This makes it suitable for educational and training purposes, but a low level of purity inhibits its use in food items and medicines.
