Lab Alley’s Cobalt Chloride Crystal is available as Cobalt(II) Chloride Dihydrate and Cobalt(II) Chloride Hexahydrate. Lab Alley’s Cobalt Chloride is Cobalt(II) Chloride Dihydrate having the chemical formula Cl2CoH4O2 or CoCl2-2H2O. It appears as violet-blue hygroscopic crystals having good solubility in water at ambient conditions. Cobalt(II) Chloride Dihydrate can be prepared in aqueous solution by reacting Cobalt(II) Hydroxide or Cobalt(II) Carbonate with Hydrochloric Acid. The dihydrate is then obtained by evaporation and cooling of the saturated aqueous solution between 120.2 °C and 51.25 °C. Purified Grade, also known as Pure or Practical Grade, refers to those high-purity compounds that do not fulfil the ACS, the USP, or the FCC grade requirements. In the United States of America (USA), Lab Alley sells their high-quality Cobalt Chloride Crystal, Purified online at laballey.com.
